Our Story

Mehboob Harunani, the current Managing Director of Shehnai Restaurant and director at Kitchen Masters Ltd., began his journey in the family business in 1987. Starting as a training manager, Mehboob’s dedication led him to pursue further education in management development programs at Kenya Utalii College, where he excelled and earned promotions, eventually becoming the General Manager in 1996. In 1997, Mehboob spearheaded the successful renovation and expansion project of Shehnai, cementing its reputation as a premier dining destination. Beyond his role as Managing Director, Mehboob is recognized for his contributions to the Tourism & Hospitality industry and his extensive social and voluntary work. Throughout his career, Mehboob has held various leadership positions, including Chairman of the Rotaract Club of Bahari and President of Skal Kenya Coast and Skal Kenya National. He has also served on numerous committees and associations, such as Coast Amateur Swimming Association and Nasserpuria Memon Community. In 2021, Mehboob received the prestigious ‘DIPLOME DU MERITE SKAL’ from the Skal International World President, becoming the first Kenyan to be honored with this award for promoting the ideals of the association and tourism at large. A respected veteran in the industry, Mehboob continues to set high standards and inspire the younger generation to strive for excellence.
